"Sometimes - it doesn't work!"
Hello
In the last two weeks I learned yet another valuable lesson from the ‘University
of Life’
Mind you...
It’s one I just know I have to keep on learning
Here’s why:
You and I know – in business one of the actions we MUST keep on taking is:
To TEST everything!
Yes – however great the results we’re getting from any activity (and I’m
thinking especially about marketing and sales) we can never rest on our
successes and think we’ve cracked the code.
Because...
Unless we TEST EVERYTHING and keep on testing everything we’ll never know just
how much better our results could be.
And so...
The lesson I learned was this:
Sometimes when we ‘test’ – the results go down - not up!
And this is just part of the price of tomorrow’s increased success.
To be sure...
It’s disappointing – especially when we think the changes we made were nigh on
guaranteed to produce more conversions, more sales, more profit!
And it’s easy to regret the decision and think “Oh, what have I done – I should
have left it well alone”
But no...
Despite the fact one recent test reduced conversions by nearly 60% - I’m
still pleased I was bold enough to try it to see what would happen.
There’s an important point...
Whenever you ‘test’ – always test small!
Don’t get carried away with what a good friend of mine called “Entrepreneurial
Impatience” and roll out your latest thinking without letting a small part of
the market tell you if your latest idea is a winner.
So what...
Can we test? Well almost everything. Here are just a few ideas to consider:
1.
The price
2.
The bonuses
3.
The offer
4.
The time-sensitivity
5.
The message – and any part of it
6.
The response mechanism
7.
The route to market
And...
I’m certain a few moments with your trusty pen, paper and mind and a really
great question – you’ll be able to generate a list of at least 37 factors you
can consider.
The question is as simple as: What can I possibly test?
Then let your ‘internal genius’ the one who’s always ready to help – give you
the answers you need.
Will you...
Take the time to answer?
You will!
Oh goody goody!
Go on then...
