"It's just '1' not '3'..."
Hello

So fortunate to speak to so many people in
business and get to discover what they do and
perhaps as importantly – what they don’t do – well!
And so…
It’s
no surprise to see some of these people
unwittingly make the mistake of thinking it’s
THREE when in reality it’s usually only ONE.
Sounds a bit cryptic but let me share my thoughts
with you.
I’m talking about…
Price! Yes – the price charged for any goods or
services by; well almost anyone for almost anything.
It
appears so many people believe; and I believe they
believe erroneously, that PRICE is THE factor (three letters)
when in reality PRICE is only ‘A” (one letter) factor.
You’ll recall…
The
time you bought a ‘something’. Perhaps a car, a suit,
a pair of shoes, even a gadget – when price was simply
irrelevant! You didn’t mind how much it was – you just
had to have it – true. If not for you then surely for most
people at times.
Just
look at the phenomenon of APPLE. Queues for the iPad,
even longer queues for iPhone 4, despite its antenna problems!
Queues for any new ‘apple’ to hit the market.
There’s a perfect example of PRICE being only ‘a’ factor
and not ‘the’ factor.
OK, so…
There will be some situations when ‘price’ is the only
game being played – but often it’s when the ego has
also turned up on the pitch to play along too.
Over
the years I’ve been in business, 38 years to be
precise – I seen so many occasions when people have
focused on only price when a refocus on benefits would
have produced a ‘so-much-better’ result.
Perhaps the next time you’re buying, perhaps the next
time you’re selling, perhaps the next time you’re negotiating
you might just recall these thoughts and see if price is just
a factor rather than the be all and end all factor so many
think it is.
Wishing you success with your price – I’m certain the
‘market’ will tell you when you’ve got it just right!
Go
on then!
