"Jumping For Joy!"
Hello
I don’t know about you – but when I was at
school and competing
in various athletics events during school lessons – the one I liked
least – was the high jump!
Here’s why...
That scissor kick we had to use was so
ungainly – and in my young
mind just didn’t make any sense as a powerful strategy to get over
the obstacle in front of me.
Mind you...
When Dick Fosbury came up with the now
ubiquitous ‘Fosbury’ Flop’
we couldn’t use it either as we didn’t have the deep foam mats to land
on.
It was in...
The Summer Olympic in October 1968 in Mexico
City when Dick’s
revolutionary method first hit the mats and gave high-jumpers
everywhere new hope of achieving higher personal bests.
And you know...
There’s such a brilliantly useful to be taken;
it’s this:
Go back in your mind to those school athletics
lessons for a moment.
There you are doing the high-jump and you soar
over the bar.
The bar is raised by about 10 cm and sure
enough
you fly over it again.
Again the bar goes up another 10 cm and this
time you
catch your heel as you’re going over and the bar fall to the ground.
Now we know...
Just - how - good - you – really - are!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
Do you realise just how important this is?
Yes – listen carefully:
It’s only when you hit the bar do we know how
good you are. You’re
good to just under the height of the bar you hit.
Now do you think...
This applies to every single thing you’ve ever
done; currently do or
will ever do in - any and every single area of your life?
Yes, you do! Oh great – because it’s true!
Here’s some thoughts...
To take away with you:
If you’ve not been hitting any bars
lately then you probably
haven’t found out just how good you can be!
After all you might think you're only a few
inches short when
in reality you’re over a foot lower than your possible.
Might now be the time to do some more jumping
and even more
measuring and let’s see just how many more we can hit!
Go on then...
