"Hit it into the Bucket!"
Hello
There’s such a great picture to hold in your mind when you’ve off down the
highway signposted: ‘Success and Achievement’ – determined to reach those stated
destinations.
And…
It
was taught to me by someone with ‘targets’ as a moment-to-moment part of his
life.
When
he told me – I responded ‘Wow!’
Mind you I’m a ‘wow-responding’ sort of guy. I’m not too easily ‘wowed’ but when
I am then I just have to express my wowedness – out loud!
Any way…
Here’s the picture he gave me and how you can use it too.
It’s
there right at the top of the page. Yes! It’s a simple bucket.
And how you use it is…
Well
– let’s start with the circumstances in which I heard about it then we can spin
it right round and see just where you and I use it in so many other areas.
The
man who showed me was a golf-pro and he was teaching me to hit the ball better,
further, straighter and perhaps most importantly (and oh so relevant for
everything) more consistently!
The
picture he painted into my mind was: Peter imagine the bucket is on its side the
open larger end facing you and it’s about a meter away from you on a straight
line between the starting position of the ball and its intended finishing point.
Got it!
I
said. And did it then, subsequently and regularly to great effect.
Now let’s look…
Where you and I use it in areas other than hitting balls into holes!
OK –
here goes:
Life
is all about hitting balls into holes; or throwing darts into boards; or bowling
black balls at pins; or archerying arra’s into golds; or even setting and
achieving our goals; our wishes; our wants and have-to’s; our dreams; our
aspirations; our ‘Have’s, Do’s and Be’s’ – life is one big getting from here –
to – there!
And so…
Just
think if there was a open-mouthed bucket just a few short paces or so in front
of us on a straight line from where we are in the precise direction of where we
surely intend to be!
Wouldn’t it make it so easy to know the exact action we’d need to take to get
the journey started – certain we’d taken the first step in the right direction?
Or perhaps…
The
bucket is simple a simple measuring device. A point (or points) along the path
to let us know we’re on track.
You know…
I
find the bucket such a fabtastic picture for goal-getting and actions to take
(and it’s great for golf too)
Will
you use it?
You
will – great!
Go on then...
