"A lesson from Wonderland!"
Hello
And she told me something to make me sit up and listen..
You see...
A
young friend is an aspiring actor, now at acting school with hopes and dreams of
treading the boards across the world.
And...
Judging by what she’s done already – I won’t be surprised at all to see her name
lit large in star-sized lights in front of theatres in years to come.
Already she’s starred in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ – and if applause is anything to
go by – her future seems assured
So – during...
A
recent conversation – I was asking her about her preparation for the moment she
walks on stage and how she deals with any adrenaline rush (some might call it
nerves) – and any other tips about speaking in such a public place.
There was one thing...
She told me – which really made such sense and yet probably unused by anyone not
in the acting profession – and you and I can use it too.
Here it is...
For a few minutes before walking out to see the smiling faces of the audience or
the single stare of the camera – she begins to talk and walk and think in the
part she’s about to play.
Yes – any conversations with anyone, cast members; crew; assistants; friends and
family – are all conducted in the voice and style of the character.
In this way...
She hits the ground running – already acting before she’s about to act.
Just imagine...
If you and I - before any activity – started to do the same!
Not just preparing for action – I’m certain we do that already – but actually
getting into the part.
And this...
Can apply to ANYTHING we do - not just speaking.
Selling
· Writing
– anything
· Presentations
· Sports
· Social
· Fun
· Life!
I think...
I’m going to be acting (in character of course) more - before
Will you?
Go on then...
