"It wasn't by accident - was it?"

Over the last few weeks – for anyone interested - we’ve been treated to outstanding performances at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Record after record being broken – personal bests – tears of joy and heartache

It was the date...

That caught my attention – 08.08.08 – whether habit dictates – dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy. And the games themselves started at 8 minutes and 8 seconds past 8.00 pm (local time)

It’s said...

The Chinese people consider the number ‘8’ to be lucky or auspicious. In Mandarin the word for ‘8’ sounds similar to the word which means ‘prosper’ or ‘wealth’.

In fact: The telephone number 8888-8888 was sold for $270,723 (US) in Chengdu.

And so...

I was thinking: I’ll bet it wasn’t a chance coincidence that all these ‘eights’ came into play for the Olympics – someone didn’t decide just 4 years ago that 08.08.08 would be a great day to start it all off – oh no!

Planning is what...

That took – not just months of planning; not just a few years of planning – decades of thought and preparation.

And it occurred...

To me – I might not; in comparison; be spending as much time, as much thought, as much effort on the planning of my own games of life.

So – I made a decision to be more planned into the future – more prepared for what might happen – more certain of the outcome because of my meticulous efforts.

Certain...

In the knowledge – such effort must surely produce – a gold!
