"It can be a long version!"
Hello

So…
Sitting at my desk in the comfort of my office at home
one slightly warmer and decidedly more springing like
Monday morning – I paused, looked at my prioritized
‘Do List’ and thought “Um, um, um”
You see…
There was something about the list that wasn’t quite,
you know what I mean – not quite ticking all the boxes,
ringing all the buttons, doing up all the bells.
What is it?
I
inquired of my managing director. I think he sits just
behind my left ear judging by the itch I get there on
occasions too often to recall right now.
He told me:
It’s
the fact you haven’t put EVERYTHING on the list
and so your mind is wandering even as you deal with
each item.
You’re internally thinking whilst externally doing – and
that’s simply not the way to get the most done at the
level you know you’re capable of achieving.
So what shall I do?
I
asked him. He’s so good at coming up with answers
that work so well for me. You’d think he’d known me
for ever!
Here’s what to do he whispered.
“Get
your Moleskine Notebook, the one with the grid
lines you like because they keep your writing neat and
tidy”
“Got
it!” I said.
“Now” he continued; “Write down everything you believe,
know, think, feel – you want ‘to do’.
And you know…
I
did and the list (I’m looking at it now) is 38 items long.
Now
this isn’t too bad by previous experiences – I’ve created
lists of over 100 items.
Still – ‘38’ is still a potato sack full of chunky and sometimes
slightly muddy lumps to be sorted isn’t it?
Nevertheless…
I
went through the list – add prioritization to each item
by way of “1s”; “2s”, “3s” and upward so I’d know which
ones I’d decided to do first, second and onward.
Chunks of “1s”; chunks of “2s”.
And
then – I prioritized the “1s” – and started action
Feels so good to be back in control after a couple of
days of thinking – something’s amiss.
Will
you give it a go – right now – this very moment?
I
will.
Go
on then!
