"Bounce - Bounce - Bounce!"
Hello
Arriving at the seminar I started with these words:
“On the way here this morning I was listening to the radio”
Oh by the way...
Only as I turned over a CD on wealth creation I’d been listening to!
Anyway...
I
continued: “And the England manager, who was being interviewed, said he was now
going to follow the example of most businesses. As his team had lost their last
6 matches – he was going to STOP ALL THE TRAINING!”
The audience...
Sat upright; wondering if I (or he) were being serious.
I
wasn’t and the story was just that – a complete fabrication
And yet...
As the media continue to bombard us with ever escalating stories of financial
woes and worries and wind downs – many organisations are contemplating this
self-same potentially business-fatal error.
But...
Thinking about the media for a moment – they’ve successfully prophesised the
vast majority of all recessions – I wonder just how many of those were
self-fulfilling predictions – oh well a discussion for another day.
Back to the main thrust...
You and I would complain in the most forceful words possible if the manager of
our favourite team or even single player – took this crazy stance – wouldn’t we?
After all...
Professionals – after they’ve played badly – rush off to the practice area to
find out why – and correct what needs correcting
Professionals – after they’ve played well – rush off to the practice area to
find out why – and embed those positive results
So does this mean...
Professionals not only train to get to the top – but also train to
stay there?
YES – YES – YES – YES – YES!
Perhaps then...
Just in case the newshounds manage to slobber their spittle of doom across our
world – the best way we can be prepared is to UP THE TRAINING; INCREASE THE
TRAINING; FOCUS ON TRAINING
So not only...
We will be prepared – but ready to seize every opportunity coming our way – oh
and by the way – they certainly will – they always do for anyone prepared.
Oh yes perhaps...
You're thinking: “Peter, why the picture of a basket ball?”
Well...
Just another analogy:
When we keep bouncing the ball it keeps on bouncing – yes?
But: when we take our hand away – the ball will bounce for while; slowing and
lowering as it does until... it stops altogether – lying there inert.
I was wondering...
If doing marketing – is the same as bouncing a ball?
Can I leave it there for you – oh I thought so
Must go – training and marketing to do
Go on then...
